How an IT audit works
Every audit follows the same five steps. You know what is happening at each stage and what you will receive at the end.
The five steps
1. Book
Send a request and tell us about your business.
Use the request form to tell us your business size and what you would like reviewed. We reply to arrange a time to talk.
2. Discovery
We agree scope, access and timing.
We talk through your setup, your concerns and what you want from the audit. Together we agree which areas are in scope, what access we need, and whether the review happens on-site, remotely or both. You receive the agreed scope before any work starts.
3. Review
We carry out the review on-site, remotely or both.
We examine the systems in scope and record what we find. We work around your business so disruption stays low, and we tell you straight away if we find something that needs urgent attention.
4. Report
You receive a written report with prioritised findings.
The report explains what we reviewed, what we found, and why each finding matters. Findings are ranked by priority, and each one comes with a practical recommendation.
5. Walkthrough
We go through the report with you.
We walk you through the findings and answer your questions, so you leave with a clear plan for what to do first. Your IT provider is welcome to join.
What we need from you
- A contact person who can answer questions about your setup.
- Access to the systems in scope, as agreed in discovery.
- Any existing documentation, such as a list of accounts or equipment, if you have it.
How we handle access
We only ask for the access the agreed scope needs. We agree with you how access is given, and you can remove it when the audit ends. Please do not send passwords through the request form.
Start with step one
Send a request and we will reply to arrange a discovery conversation.
